XOOM Energy, LLC through its family of companies is a retail electricity, renewable and natural gas provider in over 90 energy choice markets across the U.S. and Canada. In Canada, XOOM Energy’s family of companies includes: "XOOM Energy Canada, ULC" (which provides services in Alberta) and "XOOM Energy ONT, ULC" (hereinafter collectively "XOOM Energy") and offers electricity and/or natural gas products in each of their respective provinces. We are not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, any local utility or provincial commission.
XOOM Energy, LLC has wholly-owned subsidiaries offering natural gas and electricity service in 18 states, plus the District of Columbia, and Alberta, Canada, totaling 90+ utilities – making XOOM Energy, LLC one of the largest energy retailers in the country.
An energy supplier is a company that acquires its electricity, renewable energy or natural gas supplies from the wholesale market and sells it retail to homes and business. Wholesale energy supply sources include much of the same source that the utility will use, such as electricity generators or the open market. An energy supplier is not your local utility. The utility still operates the local distribution wires and pipes which carry electricity and natural gas through its territory and to homes or businesses. An energy supplier purchases and supplies energy; the local utility delivers the energy to your home.
XOOM Energy services ATCO Electric, ENMAX Power Corporation, EPCOR, City of Lethbridge, AltaGas, ATCO Gas and Fortis Alberta. (This includes the Rural Electrification Associations of Drayton Valley, Duffield, Mayerthrope, Niton, West Liberty, West Wetaskwin, Armena, Lindale and Stoney Plain.)
No. Your local utility will remain the same and will continue to deliver energy to your home or business, just like they did when you bought the energy supply from them.
XOOM Energy service will typically commence on your meter read date immediately following your successful enrollment in our program, meaning it may take 10-30 days.
A fixed rate plan provides you with stability and peace of mind. Utility rates are variable rates that can change periodically. A fixed rate product may be higher or lower than utility rates, but, unlike utility rates, a fixed rate product will not change during the life of your contract. You are protected against unexpected and costly price increases and have greater control over the cost of your electricity. A variable rate plan allows you to purchase electricity at market-based prices that change from month to month. While a variable rate is subject to monthly price increases or decreases, it may help you realize the lowest possible cost in the market. However, it also exposes you to possible price increases, and, unlike a fixed rate, a variable rate does not protect you against price volatility. This may be higher or lower than the utility rate.
XOOM’s variable month-to-month rate is set – and known – at the beginning of each month, just like the Regulated Rate Option (RRO). Customers will receive this rate on their bill for the corresponding month. An indexed or “floating” rate is calculated daily and includes a set adder often referred to as a transaction fee. Since an indexed rate can vary daily, customers on this type of rate are subject to market volatility during the month.
Our service is contingent upon a successful credit review. If your credit review is not successful, or if you do not adhere to a credit review, then you may be presented with the option to pay a deposit.
Please contact your local electricity/gas utility for any problems you may be having with receiving your commodity supply or for any emergencies.
Yes, XOOM Energy will bill you directly. XOOM Energy commodity supply charges will appear along with your utility service and delivery charges. You will make one payment to XOOM Energy.
Beginning January 1, 2017, your monthly natural gas bill will include the carbon levy. The levy is calculated on all fossil fuels that emit greenhouse gases when combusted, including natural gas. For more information on the carbon levy and details on exemptions and rebate eligibility, please visit climate.alberta.ca or call 310-0000.

When planning to move, check to see if your new location will be in the same utility market. If it is not, you will need to re-enroll with XOOM Energy. If it is in the same utility market, simply contact XOOM Energy Customer Care 2 weeks prior to your move and be prepared to provide the new Site ID number. We will then attempt to transfer your service to your new service address.
Normally, there is no fee to transfer your service. Refer to the Terms and Conditions of your contract for details.
In order for XOOM Energy to offer and fulfill its term obligation to you, we have to purchase electricity and gas in advance of usage to cover the entire length of your contract. If you cancel your contract early, XOOM needs to offset the cost of selling the unused portion of your electricity or gas to others. The cost recovery fee covers this cost and any other expenses we incur because of your cancellation.
Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our Customer Care at 866-999-8483.
You can have your energy bill automatically withdrawn directly from your bank account by setting up an Auto Draft account or you can automatically have it deducted from your debit/credit card of choice.
