XOOM Energy Partners with Second Harvest in Second Annual “Quest for the Cup” Food Drive

June 17, 2013

XOOM Energy was proud to partner with Second Harvest and our neighbors at the Hunstad Kortesis Center in the annual “Quest for the Cup” food drive.  The XOOM Energy “Power Players” and Hunstad Kortesis Center “Beauty Builders” battled it out to see which organization could make the largest donation to Second harvest over a two-week period.  In addition to staff donations from the two organizations, both groups collected items from members of the community who stopped by XOOM headquarters in Huntersville, NC to place items the lobby drop box.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina was founded in 1981 with the goal of ending hunger for families across North and South Carolina.  As the largest hunger relief charity in the area, they supply a network of over 600 non-profit agencies across 19 counties with food and essential grocery products.

“Identifying partners with strong ties to the community is foremost in our minds” states Michelle Harding, Vice President & General Counsel.  “We’re a young company, but we’re working to be a productive corporate citizen in the communities where we live, work and provide service.”

In the end, the Power Players were victorious over the Beauty Builders, but the real winners were our friends at Second Harvest.  They’ll make sure that the 3,200 pounds of groceries collected are distributed to families in need across the Carolinas – powering change for the better, close to home.
